About the ASU Phoenix Forge Partnership
Phoenix Forge is a makerspace operated by GateWay Community College on behalf of the Maricopa County Community College District. Through a partnership with Arizona State University, a limited number of ASU-sponsored memberships are available to ASU students, faculty, and staff for projects relating to their education, research, or student organization involvement.
Membership Information
ASU sponsored memberships are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for ASU students, staff, and faculty. Projects must relate to coursework, research, or a student organization. Memberships are available by semester--fall, summer and spring. If you are inactive in the Phoenix Forge system for more than 30 days, your membership may be deactivated.
Memberships include:
- Initiation fee waiver
- Unlimited makespace time
- 6 hours per month of machine time per piece of reservable equipment
There is a fee to attend most classes at Phoenix Forge. Class vouchers are available for individuals who would like to request a fee waiver.

Phoenix Forge is a 22,500 square feet makerspace, with a variety of tools and equipment used for:
- Prototyping
- Metalworking
- Woodworking
- Jewelry making
- Electronics and robotics
- Textiles
